Your best chance for success in a new flea market business is bound to take place when you have solutions to some of the subsequent questions.
How many flea markets are in your area? You can check out all the flea markets in your nearby vicinity by getting hold of a flea market directory.
The next thing you need to do is to go and check out every one of them. After going to a few flea markets, you will start to see for yourself “what works” and “what doesn’t work”.One of the things to be looking for is what items the flea market vendors are selling. This will give you a lot of information for products that you might want to sell. Making your decision on what products to sell is certainly going to be a decisive turning point.

How many sellers are there in each market? How many sellers are trying to sell the same items? Competition is good, but only up to a certain limit.
You need to walk around and watch the vendors who are actually doing business and ringing up sales. Also look at what the shoppers are carrying around. I know this sounds obvious but you have to sell products that people want or need.
After selling for over 20 years at the flea market I see this happen to new dealers all the time. People try to market the hottest merchandise that every other vendor is marketing, or something that no one has any use for.
Take your time in every market and really examine what is happening. You might need to take notes so you can get it all together later.
Another thing of importance is knowing what days every flea market is open. How much is the rent? Can you get a discount if you pay by the week-end or month?
Always look around for a good spot to set up. You can have the best goods in the world but if no one gets to your booth then you will go home with only a few dollars.
You will need to check for what license is required in your county and state. So be sure to check and see what is required. They usually are inexpensive.
The last thing I will touch on and I won’t go into this to deep but you will need to find a wholesaler. This is an important decision because you need to find items that will make you a really good profit and be able to depend on your wholesaler for your merchandise week after week.
